About The Event
Amanda Pitt (soprano)
Gavin Roberts (piano)
Rosamund Shelley (actor)
Florence Nightingale (1820-1910) worked in St Marylebone between 1853 and 1854 at ‘The Establishment for Gentlewomen During Temporary Illness’ where she was Superintendent in 1854 when a cholera epidemic hit London. Born in the same year, Swedish soprano Jenny Lind (1820-1887) became as famous for her singing as did Nightingale for her pioneering work in nursing. Indeed, Lind knew Nightingale and often donated her performance earnings to support health services. This performance tells the story of these two ‘Nightingales’ and their sometimes surprising connections to St Marylebone, and to each other in word and music.
Please not that Rosamund Shelley replaces the previously advertised Sarah Gabriel.
