About The Event
Andrew Watts (countertenor)
Gavin Roberts (piano)
Supported by the RVW Trust
Conversation and music by composers associated with the neighbouring Royal Academy of Music. A unique opportunity to hear directly from the composers themselves as well as hear their music. International counter-tenor Andrew Watts has long associations with many living composers, and recently launched his NMC recording ‘The Counter-tenor Songbook’. He is thus the perfect ambassador to lead us on this fascinating journey. The performance will include new Marylebone-themed commissions from Head of Composition at RAM, Philip Cashian, and former and current RAM students Joseph Howard, Louise Drewett and Geoffrey King, as well as music by Michael Tippett and Master of the Queen's Music Judith Weir, who will also speak at the event.
